OUR WORK

Race to Mackinac

With over 680 million media impressions, Heron Agency blew its public relations campaign for Chicago Yacht Club’s Race to Mackinac out of the water.

WHAT WE DID

Our agency was tasked with executing a public relations campaign, bringing in both print and broadcast media, to cover this famed Chicago sporting event. This race serves as one the world’s longest-running freshwater distance races and brings in sailors from 40 states and nine countries to participate.

Through this campaign, our agency was able to employ our various top level media contacts in both the print and broadcast mediums to amplify awareness of the Race to Mackinac in both press realms. Chicago Yacht Club’s Race to Mackinac continues to be a summer favorite and “to do” list event for both Chicagoans and visitors to the city.

RESULTS WE GOT

The media secured for this event included coverage from CRAIN’S CHICAGO BUSINESS, CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, MLIVE, CHICAGO WOMAN, SPORT’S ILLUSTRATED, CHICAGO MAGAZINE, WGN RADIO, ABC 7, CBS, NBC 5, FOX 32, WBEZ, and WLS-AM. Our campaign for the Race to Mackinac was widely successful with media impressions totaling over 680 million.
